How about double doubles..... one shorter rope 4' section off and one longer.....

Oh so close. One free and the other with slack, then the other free and slack. But not both.

Here is our doubles surfing. we had no ballast in the boat, but about 8 people. was quite a pull to get up with her, but we made it. after a while we were getting some slack and surfing.
