Engage transmission while on fake a lake?
Bout time to start thinking about winterizing Anyway, was wondering if it's alright to engage the transmission into idle forward and/or reverse while the boat is running on the trailer with the fake a lake hooked up. It's my understanding the prop shaft seal is being supplied water so it'll be ok? Any issues to be concerned about if it's even ok to do this (other than clearing the prop of course). Basically I'm want to warm up the transmission and v-drive to help with fluid extraction.

The strut bushing is not lubricated when out of water, so you will do it harm. 2nd, there is no way to introduce enough heat into the trans and v-drive while on the trailer, so theres no point in running it in gear for winterizing.

you can put it in gear for a short time if you want to. Just use some wd40 and spray it a little every now and then. My dealer says they do it all the time and I have done it as well. I would not do it for a long time but for a couple of minutes should be fine.
