Supra/momba code scanner

Has anyone bough a scanner to check the engine codes on there boat.
My brother has a nice snap-on scanner but by reading on the internet you can't use that one.
I was going to have him call snap-on see if he can buy the connecter and module for his scanner.
I was just wondering if anyone else tried this or knows what computer plug in I need?

I seen a little bit in the old post but wanting a little more information.
