2014 May Picture Thread

Well no boating today, did get out on the water but in a little bit different way... Paddle board towing a raft full of wife and kids. It was actually pretty relaxing. Took it back to the end of a cove where it got to about 1' deep. Tomorrow the boat goes in!

The lake was glass pretty much all day yesterday!

My son yesterday. A perfect day on the Flint River. It was 94 and the water was about 76. So nice. My daughter has all the pics. They shot crappy video with my phone and only took a couple pics. This one started free riding yesterday on the old skurf board Moombadaze left with me. He's about ready to move up.



Kids goofing off on surfboards. Youngest learned to do surface 360's. Thinks he's so cool.

What a bad ending to a great day. Don't understand how it happened but both batteries were dead after rafting up in a cove listening to music for about 3 hrs. I just had the new one installed a couple of weeks ago too. Had to get towed back by this very nice family who wouldn't accept any money for the tow.

I was not happy.

Unbelievable, I must have pissed off some higher power. Today after going for an awesome bike ride with my daughter and then coming home, sitting in the house for a couple hours I go out to my truck and it won't turn over! WTF! Jumped it with my wife's car, let it run for a bit, then shut it off, tried to restart and nothing. Them it wouldn't jump! Ugh, what a weekend from hell!

Question is: battery or alternator?

For the boat, generally a bad Idea to only replace 1 battery, if at any point you combine then with the switch the new battery is at the mercy of the old one. Most likely the old one was weak but due to a full charge it seemed ok.

Once you started playing the stereo with no engine the older one failed and dragged the new one down with it. This is an exact reason i have a 3 batteries. 2 for the stereo and 1 for the starter and I never combine them so my starter is always charged.

Your truck could have a bad Alternator. The best way to find out is charge the battery in the truck and get it to start, put a Volt meter on the battery and you should see 14V as a charging voltage, if you don't your alternator is dead.

On your car I would lean towards the battery but test it the same as above.

Most newer cars won't start if it doesn't get a reference voltage from the alternator.
