Attached oil drain tube too big and not long enough?
I'm getting ready for my first oil change since I've owned my 2002 OB LSV. I got my hands on the drain line, but it doesn't fit out the bilge plug hole with the cap on (hex cap is just a little too big). Also, it doesn't look long enough to reach past the cavitation plate.
Am I missing something easy? Thanks.- John

You suck it out of that tube, or at least that's what I do. I have a pela 6000 oil extractor that has a small tube that goes down inside the tube that you speak of and then I suck the oil out.

On my 2010 the hose would fit through the drain hole but I have an extractor now and its much easier and faster than trying to get the hose down there.
4-5 pumps on the handle creates a vacuum and oil is empty in about a minute or so.Last edited by tnbrooks01; 04-05-2014 at 08:46 AM.

I ended up sucking the oil out of the engine drain line by coupling it to the suction tube of a little lawnmower oil extractor (3L I think). I did fish it through the bilge plug hole so I could avoid spilling anything inside the boat. Stuck a zip lock back around the filter once it was loose and spun it off inside the bag to avoid spills there too. I was 100% spill free too until my 5yo daughter asked to help.
