    Default Wakesurfing Boat Help

I recently sold my 2007 Supra 24SSV and I am considering a new boat. I no longer wakeboard and only wakesurf. I am considering the SC series with the new Swell system. If I go with the SC, do you think the 350 motor will be enough or do you suggest bigger? How about a 4 blade prop? I had the 4 balde on my 24ssv, but don't know if I will need it, since I am no longer wakeboarding, but will pull a tube from time to time. Any other must have options?

think the 350 would be plenty, yes on the upgraded wakeboard prop as it will be needed for running surf ballast
. as for must have option--get them all

Even though my heart screams for the 550, I'd stick with the 350 as it's the Indmar "surf" engine with a different oil pan and sump design. If you search the forum, there should be some more details on this posted.

Is a "surf" engine needed now that you can run equal ballast and generate a wave with the swell? The boat should not be listing very much anymore with these new surf enhancements and it was my understanding that the main innovation behind the surf engine was to ensure everything was properly lubber under the heavy list

I have the 350 Surf engine in my Mojo, I also have driven the SC450.

The 450 will get the job done all day, and they recommend it if you plan to wake-board with heavy ballast.

The 350 will get the job done all day for surfing, and you can reprop it like my Mojo if you are running serious weight and the 350 will perform flawlessly.

The need for a Surf taged engine such as the 350 isn't as visual with the new Swell, and Moomba Flow since you would run the boat more level. The extra components of the engine make it worth the upgrade still in the Moomba line. in the Supra line its the base engine.

Larger oil pan, baffles to keep oil from listing, air oil separator, remote oil filter all make servicing and longevity a priority.

I also found it gets pretty decent Gallons per hour. I averaged all summer 3.5 to 4 gph while surfing with 3K weight and 4-8 people. When we had the SC450 for 2 days we averaged 4gph so both engines are pretty decent on fuel. My LSV with the 325 would average 7gph.

If it were me, I'd strongly consider the 450 but the 350 is supposed to get the job done. Make sure the prop that comes on the boat is the 14x14 variant and not closer to 13x17. I can't remember the current factory options.

Out of curiosity, have you ruled the SA out? As another 24 owner, I'd be going that route for size reasons.

Cabin size is actually the same on the SC and SA, difference is in the nose. The SC has the tiny 21Launch nose. That was a big reason why we opted to not trade up to the SC.

At 21.8 vs the SA 22.5

SC 21.8 vs the Mojo 22.5 the main difference is the SC cabin space is 8inches shorter, 3 inches wider.
In size refference the Mojo is only 3inches shorter in the cabin then an XLV. Mojo is wider though apx 4 inches.

Thank you everyone for the information. My 24SSV, was larger than I ever needed and I am not a huge fan of the picklefork front, so this is the reason I am leaning towards the SC. There is the option for liquid lead flex and just wondering if I should get that as well, since I will mostly be surfing.

When I had my 24SSV, I did go with the 750# bags on each side and when I surfed, I filled one side all the way out and filled the front up halfway. If I remember the front held 1150#

    YES!

Get the liquid lead option. That, with the SWELL system, will provide a super wave, IMO.

Completely agree with Drew, definitely go for the Flex Ballast in addition to the Liquid Lead. You can also order upgraded rear sacs for the SC as well from Wakemakers, and I recommend that if you really want to maximize your wave. That would be 3000 pounds concealed ballast and that's not too shabby. The SC is a heck of a surf boat.
