Tire went boom! Any ideas? Sidewall pic.
Blow out on sidewall. Going 55 MPH, tire pressure was good, tire has less than 1,000 miles on it.
I was just cruising along and it just exploded. You can see part of the steel belt hanging out. This was on the outside of the trailer.
It was the youngest tire in the set, no rot or cracks. Trailer spent its life in the shade on cement pad.
Any ideas? Just a bad tire?

If they are your original tires and have seven seasons then you are bumping up against the life cycle for those tires. If it is newer then it appears to be defective and your warrenty may apply.

Three tires are original to the trailer which is 6 years old. That particular tire was younger one.
In the last 5 years it went about 3/4 of a mile to the boat ramp 2-3 times per year plus a few 40 minute trips.
The tire looks bad because I had it in some mud and all of the scuffs and side wall scrapes were from the blowout.
It was pretty violent. Big bang and lots of smoke.
Trailer tracked like a champ, didn't vibrate much and I couldn't even tell the tire was gone until I saw the smoke in the mirror.2007 XLV Gravity Games

Not sure what happened but this is exactly why I love having a dual axle trailer. Just in case. Glad you didn't have any major problems.

No bueno señor!!!
Have any of you thought about jacking up the trailer and resting it on blocks during the winter just to take the weight off the tires for a few months!? I've been seriously contemplating this...2004 Outback Blue on White *Sold

Well I am thinking about it now. It will be sitting in a gravel parking lot so it will be sitting uneven. I may just sick some boards under the tires at very least to even it out.
