Had a big Sony like that - somewhere in the 350lb range. Thought I'd have to pay someone to take it from me.
Ended up getting $50 for it on CL from some dude who was a game developer.
So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

Yeah , new house, 46 that died looks out of place over the mantle and fire place, so 42 will be proportional in that space.

    Minimalist tv surfing!

Price was not the issue, but try pricing. 70 inch 3d smart led tv..

now that made me chuckle this morning..

the problem isn't that the 46 looked out of place, it's that the fireplace and mantle needed to be enlarged to showcase a 55

    nice winter project..

Since we are on the topic of TVs I need a replacement for my 55" Sony DLP in the living room. Great TV, just doesn't look right in the new house. I am thinking 70" LED hung on the wall (even had the house prewired for it) but here is my question, is there a real noticeable difference going from 120hrz to 240hrz? I don't care about 3D since I do not plan on wearing glasses while I watch TV and you don't miss what you never had.

Your eyes can't tell a difference above 120hz. With a 60, you can see blurring.

For you, just get the Sony 4K TV.

I just upgraded from a 62 dlp to a new plasma, the difference is amazing.. watch out for the glare, that's a big issue with the plasmas and leds, I slipped the 3d..

If you don't care about 3D (neither do I) get the 120hz. I was always a Sony guy, until about two years ago when I needed to replace a 32" Sony in my MBR because the room is huge (and I am old, dying, blind etc). I was in a store looking at the 55" Sony and the 60" Sharp (120hz). The Sharp was on sale and the store has a 30 day trade it in if you don't like it policy, so I loaded up the 60" Sharp and LOVE it still, it has an awesome picture and I watch movies, sports and regular make you stupid programs on it. I don't miss 3D at all as I also have a home theatre with a 135" wide 2.35 screen that I can run 3D and I never do.

The 60" tvs are now available for sub $1k and the 70s aren't too far behind. I say get the 70, skip the extended warranty and make the shop deliver it (most will so you don't screw it up in the back of the truck). If it breaks in five years, throw it in trash and buy a 90" by then!
