Default Has anyone used EL Wire to light up your boat??

Has any member used EL Wire to light up your boat? The wire looks cool - very flexible and thin. The web site is: www.elbestbuy.com

I am going to order some and experiment with it -

Oh geez - just when I thought I was about done messing around and adding more lights!

So - I'm not seeing anything about waterproof or weather resistant ratings?
So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

I talked to one of our Electrical engineers and he told me about this - It is weather proof - The rod is coated in plastic and waterproof... I have ordered some to tinker with - Could be cool to use in the boat - Speaker lights, etc, etc.

I will! THe only draw back I can see is you have to buy the 12v inverter - if I am correct you can run 4 different runs of lights - I sent an email to them about the length of runs but have not got a reply

It looks like you could make speaker rings fairly easy

So would you just cut the battery pack off or can you get them without the pack, then from that could you go to your switches or would you have to put an adapter in for 12v?

I just looked at the site. There are a couple of the power packs that wire directly into a 12 volt source. Looks like you would just have to find a place to mount the box and could wire directly to the switches if desired. The boxes look small so it doesn't look like there would be much trouble finding a spot for it.
