I would agree with you except for the fact that it happened to the original owner of my boat, which is why he gave me warning. As the second season of ownership was coming to an end, my speedo went out. Fortunately for me, I had all the original paperwork, manual's and receipts for the boat. In researching the problem, I came across the manual and sure enough, it states that you should not exceed 55mph with the paddle wheel in place. In fact, it came with a blank plug for traveling and I use this currently. Now I should mention that my speedometers were not stuck on a specific speed but read zero. Once I installed the new speedo (just the paddle wheel unit) and spun it with my finger, the speed began to register and has since worked fine.
