Battery???
I took my boat out last weekend and before we went out the battery was dead. Threw some jumper cables on it and charged it with my truck for a bit. Then took her on the water. Then about 5 hours into the day we noticed the smell of burning rubber. Turns out the positive terminal on one of the batteries was burning up. Even the wing nut was a little charred. Could that be due to a bad batter?

Re: Battery???
Sounds like the connections to the battery weren't tight.

No the connections were deffinately tight. That was the first thing we had checked.
What kind of battery do you guys recommend. I was looking at optima marine batteries. Pretty expensive. As is any other "marine" part.Goose

I recommend having the batteries tested and the entire charging system and all the main cables tested before purchasing new batteries. This is not normal and something is wrong.

The cable could be tight but the crimp on the cable to the cable end could be bad.
