Default Before and after of the patio

We bought the house on short sale in 2010, moved in 2011. The jacuzzi "worked" and I used it a few times. It took the replacement of several items over the next few months and then the water level started going down. Since this was a drop in tub, embedded in the concrete, I could not get under it. I cut it up and removed it. That left a hole in the patio. So I priced flooring options and we went with travertine pavers. Since we needed to remove everything anyway, I redid the kitchen.

I don't want to talk about the flooring costs. I made the cabinets with some plywood, hardy board, and support lumber. The stainless doors are from ebay, the stack stone is from Home Depot, and the travertine countertop is from Floor and Decor. The stainless backsplash is from Lowes. About $1100 into the "kitchen" and I reused the frig, grill, and sink.

Took up a few days, nights, and most of the Memorial Day weekend.

Nice work! How are you getting away with grilling "indoors" without it turning into a smokehouse?

And can I see more of that amazing looking waterfront view?
So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

knowing travertine tile pricing, betting that floor was more than the cost of the kitchen remodel..

I do have to ask.. what's the white thing hanging on the wall over the sink?

I've seen those in hotel rooms - pretty sure you order room service with it.

    Default Back yard

Here are a few pictures of my back yard. The lake is 100% manmade in the late 80s-early 90's. The dirt was sold to the state to make overpasses for I-75. Currenly there are about 850 homes in the gated neighborhood and 80% of them are on the lake. There are several "fingers" and one main lake. Everything except for the main lake is no wake.

Right now, we are really low on water, you can see everyone's seawall. It's great for skiing as there are no rollers to return since the water is below the seawall. However, my boat has been on the trailer and not on the lift for 2-3 months now. My bunks on the lift have been dry for a while. The main lake was 10-14' deep on Monday when we were skiing. Most of the canals are 4-7' with areas of 2-3'.

I know the recession/housing bust hurt a lot of people, but short sale really allowed us to live in a really nice place that we normally wouldn't have been able to afford. A friend realtor gave an idea of the current value in today's climate and there has been about a 30% increase since we purchased. So that make me happy.
