yes - I did it to test mine out. The stereo mini to RCA adapter will do it. Not sure you have to worry much about the line level to speaker level switcheroo here but I'm sure the audio gods could clarify.
So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

Absolutely. It's not as clean as using an adapter from the bottom port true preamp. And, when using the true preamp alone you won't have the optimum level of voltage. These would be concerns in a large system and may not be as important in your system depending on its sophistication. There is a great solution in using a JL Audio line driver & controller. It's inexpensive, delivers big voltage, is very small (the concealed line driver fits in your palm), and the tiny volume controller knob can mount flush in a panel or underdash/under console. That can be more convenient than always accessing the ipod/iphone for volume changes.

thanks David, my plan is reusing one of my original kicker amps and 2, maybe 4 of the original speakers out of the Moomba, Im likeing the idea of a line driver for a volume knob. have a link to it by any chance

Btw, Sonic Electonix is NOT a JL Audio dealer so the product origin plus condition is in question and there is zero manufacturer warranty. So buy the product from a local Florida dealer or an authorized dealer or used as long as you are knowingly sacrificing any manuf. warranty or tech. support.

David, thanks for the thoughts-all items are used to start with so warranty is not a issue
