    why does it matter is the impellar are in the drain motion vs the fill motion???

    I think the thought here is the boat being on the trailer, you can drain bags with water but not fill them.

    I dont think i agree with the running the pumps in the opposite direction to prolong the life if the impellers, either direction they are in will have pressure on them. To truly prolong the life of the impellers they need to be sprayed with a lubricant while in storage. i don't know anyone who does this. I just run mine till the pump makes the funny loud noise of sucking air and water as the bag is almost empty and shut it off. End of the season i remove all my impellers and spray them with bit light weight oil and plastic bag them.

    Default Ballast pump not pumping water...

    Replaced the impellers and all is good! That 1100 and IBS really made a difference too! At least it looks like it did anyway. I haven't ridden it yet but it looks Huge and the pocket is much longer than before. Had 650 IBS, 400 under left seat, 1100 left rear, and filled the right rear about 500 or 40%. That made a huge difference when I filled the opposite side. Hope to ride it next weekend. Couldn't this weekend bc it was just me and my 3 year old daughter.

    Joe,

    Sorry for the late reply. Its common for the impeller to stick to the housing when the boat is put away for a period. If the impeller is left in the drain position from the last outing, the motor not only has to overcome the friction of flipping the impeller, but also a stuck (dried to the housing) impeller. So we recommend to run the pumps in the fill direction for a few seconds when the ballast is dumped for the last time. This gets the impeller flipped to fill direction for the next trip out. This has not need as wide spread a problem since the pumps have been coming with the green impellers, but it was with the rubber black ones. But, I still thinks a good habit to get into.

    +1 on the light oil and bag. Just like the impeller.
    I hear the same thing from any boat tech I talk to.

    When I try to fill or empty my left ballast I can hear the pump working but nothing happen. When I run the boat fast for few minutes the pump start to work again. So do you think it is an impeller problem? Do I have to remove the pump to change the impeller or I can do it with the pump in the boat?
