    Default ski gloves w/hook

While shopping for some ski gloves several years back I remember seeing some that had a hook built into the palm of the glove that would wrap around the handle and take some of the strain off your forearms. I never bought them, but, was always curious and wondered about any safety issues in the event of a bad tumble. I haven't seen any similar in the last couple years and can only assume they got pulled entirely.

Has anybody used these gloves and are they still available? Any bad stories associated with them?

I think that what you would want here are Clincher waterski gloves:

They do not hook or loop on the handle at all. The straps transfer some of the load from two fingers to your wrists. I have a pair on my boat. Only one of my crew goes to the trouble of using them. They work well.

you might also be talking about these, with a dowel in the palm. I have not personally used these, but have heard that are pretty strong.

These type of gloves are the only ones I use. I have been using them for over ten years now. They are worth their weight in gold. I think the Radar glove is the best one (and best looking) out there. http://www.radarskis.com/#!-/gloves/-/Vice
