Default Paint scrape on rub rail

Got some white paint on the side rub rail the other day. Any suggestions on what to use to remove it? I used a little Goo Gone on it and removed most of it but there is still a little bit of paint on the rub rail.

That will certainly remove it, but you might want to try something less aggressive.

What kind of paint is on the rub rail and how did it get there? I would start out using paint thinner, in a small amount rubbing it lightly.

Default Paint scrape on rub rail

I get paint on my rub rails quite often also. it's from the pole covers where the dealership has their logo and phone number painted on. while loading the boat the rub rails strike the markings on the covers and transfer to the run rails. I haven't found a good way to get it off. lets just say I've gone threw a boat load of magic erasers

The paint was on a cushion/pad on the pole near the back of the trailer. The name of the dealership was painted on the cushion/pad. It was just white paint.

I don't have a good answer for removing it, but it brings up a good discussion point on preventing it in the future. My old boat has a hardened black vinyl(?) rub rail that swapped colors with my boat lift guide on rails for the days I tried putting it on sideways. The guide on rails are basically a PVC tube with a vinyl cover over it and are designed to be bumped to center the boat on the lift.

I never found a product that would take it off and was thinking of wrapping the guide on rails in something else to prevent it all together. Are stainless steel rub rails easier to clean? What would be a better wrap for the bumpers that wouldn't swap color as easily?

Outdoor carpet with some zipties to hold it on.

I have used laquer thinner and it will clean the rub rail really nicely.

Mark, do you regularly over on this site, too?

Simple fix is to turn the covers inside out where there isn't any printing.
