    Default remote?

so its time for me to replace my radio, my 04 has that remote on the right hand side of the gauges and i would like to get a radio that i can use that switch with or a radio with a new remote and can replace the one where that remote is now ( sorry i cant get pics up )...so in other terms if i cant use the old remote, i want to pull it out and drop a new one in with hopefully not doing any mods to that hole to make a new one fit

Is it an alpine with the ovalish remote? I upgraded to the newest apline radio with Bluetooth and used the same remote, just had to splice the wire..

Sorry I think I have a Kenwood, I can check later, I just bought the same brand but newer, just unplugged the old one and plugged the new one on. Used the old harness and everything, the remote wire was different.

Kenwood kmr440u is a direct drop in. I had an 05 and I'm pretty sure the head unit was the same in 04/05

I had a clarion head unit go out. I couldn't find a replacement that used the same hardwired remote. I thought it would be easy to find a new head unit/remote combo that would fit into the 2" hole. It was difficult and I wound up with a Sony unit.

    Good luck and shop around.
