Rad A Cage Crack
This is just an FYI to boat owners with a Rad A Cage to periodically check the welds on the brackets that are screwed to the boat.
Fortunately, I happened to notice the crack on the bracket before it completely broke. It was the bracket nearest the driver’s seat, so it was visible to me while driving. The crack went all the way through the weld and the vertical tab was flexing quite bad. I would bet it would have only withstood a few more hard hits or one good pull from a rider.
I removed the bracket and took it to a machine shop. They ground off the old weld and put a heavier weld on it. Should be fine now.Bruce Vanderbilt
