I have 3.42 gears, granted mine is a bit older, and they suck ass for towing. That was before I went to a bigger tire, making them even worse. Unless you like driving around in 2nd gear all the time - including some hills out on highway/freeway - I'd go min 3.73's.
So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

The 6 speed tranny really helps out in the newer GMs. I have the 3.42 in my Avy and it tows just fine. As with anything, you will always want more power.

I know the 3.42 is the way to go, since it's the highest they put in it.

15 qts of synthetic and filter only run you 100 bucks? I'm out almost 80 for 7 qts and a filter for my truck.

Take at least $8K off of sticker, but you should be able to get up to $10K off.

I'm hoping for $10k most dealers are stuck at $7-$8k. Found one with $10k off per add but dealer baited and switched. If you know of a dealer giving $10k let me know.

Now back to the oil change cost why with no change for the past 5 years in engine do they require a different brand of oil?

There have been some changes in oil to a different viscocity in order to reduce friction/drag and make the engine more effecient. Mostly in an effort to increase fuel economy in the overall scheme.

I buy 4 gallons, and filter is 18 bucks. So technically its 102. LOL But every 4th oil change its 80 bucks.
