transmission
Hey folks, I was looking for some help. A few days ago I was driving my '98 Kanga about 30mph when suddenly the engine started racing. There were no prior signs of the trans slipping. I checked the prop and it was fine. Shop now says a new one runs $2400. Can that be right? The boat has 450 hours on it. Tx.

Hey man, gotta love the Kanga. Cool style.
I've been hanging here for a couple years, and haven't seen any other posts on transmission slippage. Not sure if somebody else here will weigh-in or not, but either way, I'd call skiers choice directly and quiz them.
Seems like a transmission kit should be available with a series of friction discs and seals to rebuild the unit. I'd be strongly asking for those details from skiers choice. I would think that a local trans shop should be able to install, also.
Please keep us posted on what whatever you find.

Thanks catdog 1. I finally got my boat back. They ended up replacing the trans for about $1500. (What are you gonna do?) It seems to be running just fine now. Enjoy the rest of the summer!
