    Default Got a Middle-schooler?

Oldest daughter is starting 7th grade this year. Tough time for kids & parents, alike. We attended an "Open House" last night and the teacher handed us a piece of paper and asked that we read it with a picture of our child in our head.

    Enjoy:

    What is a middle schooler,
    I was asked one day.
    I knew what she was . . .
    but what should I say?

    She is noise & confusion.
She is silence that is deep.
    She is sunshine & laughter,
or a cloud that will weep.

She is swift as an arrow.
She is a waster of time.
    She wants to be rich,
    bu can't save a dime.

    She is rude & nasty.
She is as polite as can be.
    She wants my guidance,
    but fights to be free.

    She is aggressive & bossy.
    She is timid & shy.
    She knows all the answers,
    but still will ask, "Why?"

    She is awkward & clumsy.
    She is graceful & poised.
    She is ever changing,
    but do not be annoyed.

    What is a middle schooler
    I was asked one day.
    She is future unfolding.
Do not stand in her way!

This has me very concerned. Fiona is going into 4th grade this year and imo has a little bit of a sharper tongue than ever before. Seems like there is always something to say after she is told something. Not even disrespectful but just something. VERY frustrating.

So you guys are telling me it's going to get worse instead of better? Can't wait.

kane will lay it down for you, bro. I think the consensus is that they leave you from 13 to 23, or so and then you will somehow become intelligent again.

I have an 8th grade boy, so totally understand.

"When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years." - Mark Twain

This pretty much sums it up, but we were all 14 at one time!
