Default Got Prop issues? I just got the Diesel of Props. ACME 1617 its a beast

Out on the water messing around right now. I've got an 08 LSV with the stock OJ prop (13.5x17.5 I think). Empty I ran 39 mph at 4700 rpm WOT. Wake ballast (1600 lbs) I ran 38 mph 4500 WOT. Since that is all within the range 4400-4800 per owners manual, I should be good. If I choose to upgrade to the 1617 for more hole shot, my weighted WOT rpms should go up. Is it possible for them to be too high?

Talked to a propeller tech and he said the 1235 was the choice for many years and acme came out with 1617 to allow more room between boat and trailer loading. The 1235 on Moombas (certain models) will cause prop burn on gel coat and also peel away at gel coat, just like ski supreme and centurion are notorious for. Makes me glad I also went with 1617 to stray away from this issue. He mentioned the 1617 is a better prop for heavily weighted boats and runs less risk of damaging gel coat or catching trailer during loading.

I bought the ACME 1273 and was very happy with my test run. I gained back full throttle range and was happy with the 47 top end speed. When I weighted the boat down with full ballast I was running 2500rpms with a nice wave (about 10mph). I was still able to plane out with full ballast although I don't often run in that configuration. The prop seems to deliver on all my areas of concern so I am a happy camper with this prop.

Holy crap those are some low rpm's! ! Reminds me of our old DD mastercraft. We surfed at 1960-2100 rpm's those were the days of fuel sipping!
