Need Sub-Amp help??
Wanting a new amp for my L7 sub (600-1200 watts @ 2-4ohms) Im wanting the kicker ZX1000.1 class D which will work fine 1000@2-ohms but they also have a DX1000.1 and I was told this one would NOT work?? It would run at 1/2 the power (500 watts) or burn it up if i tried to run the 1000 watts?? I have had several stereo guys tell me it wont work but saw on kickers website that it will run 1000 watts at 2- ohms. Who is right?? Can anyone tell me for sure?? Thanks Jet

Hmm - Crutchfield research says on the 10DX: 280x1 at 4ohms, 550x1 x 2ohms, and minimum impedance at one ohm... (no power output specified @ 1 though).
However the 11DX has the outputs you are talking about, but minimum 2ohm load. You sure you're comparing apples to apples?
I know, everything you read on the internet is the absolute truth, but maybe should PM Phil and get the scoop. So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

I'd check kicker's website first then pm phil. either look like they would fit the bill from the links you posted. perhaps one is a replacement for the other?

Jet, is you L7 2 ohm or 4 ohm DVC? This is the real question.
Both the ZX and DX do 1000W rms @ 2 ohm. The DX does 550W @ 5 ohm and the ZX does 500W @ 4 ohm. So both the amps will deliver basically the same power to which ever sub you have. Im running a DX1000.1 @ 1 ohm powering a Wet Sounds XS-XXX. This amp is perfectly capable of running @ 1000W with a 2 ohm load.
