Default Need help on Speaker Tower Install

I have a 2006 LSV without tower speakers and just purchased a set. Getting ready to plan on the wiring. Going up the port side front tower leg. Upon inspecting the boat the tower support plate has a hole on it, but the fiberglass does not. Would the tower foot have a hole in it?

Can I drill with the tower in place?

If you have the larger 2+ inch diameter tower then yes, it has a hole in the foot. I drilled mine from the inside of the cubby. I can prolly find you a couple pictures if you like.

What he said^. IMO, a step bit (unibit) works best. I had to make the hole on each side of mine larger, and really, if the hole in the boat had been drilled in the center of the tower leg plate hole it may not have been needed. My hole was nearly completely covered/blocked.

For piece of mind I would remove the 4 bolts holding the tower foot in place and drill from the top side. That way you know the hole ends up in the correct spot. Make sure to feather out the gel coat edge to reduce potential cracking.

I did this over the weekend and it took about 30 minutes to complete. I held the tower foot off the boat with a flat foam fender/bumper while I drilled.

I had to enlarge the hole on the starboard side where the tower light wiring ran thru in order to fish the speaker wire through.

I am saving for the exile setup but I got a temporary pair from a fellow forum member. Will have a pair of Polk 6.5s w an infinity amp w talkback mic for the tower.

I need to practice driving the boat with music on do you will be happier when I drive for you.😃
