    Default How's my system?

Bought a used 2011 Supra 21v a couple months ago. I'm about to add a second battery, perko and iso relay, and thought I might wanna replace or add to some of the stereo components while I'm at it.

Looking for some honest input on how good (or bad) my system is, and what I might wanna replace. I'm definitely not looking to be the loudest on the lake, but I do like the bass .

    Here's my system:

Head Unit: MB Quart Nautic There are actually two of these in the boat (1 in the glove compartment which is a CD changer, and the other is at the helm). http://www.mbquart.com/nautic_accessories.html

In-Boat Speakers: There are 6 Kicker in boat speakers. Not sure on the wattage, but they're the typical 5" or so circular guys.

Amp #1: Kicker DX200.4. I assume this runs the in boat speakers but haven't followed the wires just yet.

    Amp #2: MTX TC4001 Thunder - Class D. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...io-TC4001.html

    Amp #3: Planet Audio AC 1600.4, 4-channel mosfet. http://www.vickersav.com/index.php?m...oducts_id=2792

    Sub: Kicker L5.

Tower Speakers: There are 4 Phoenix Gold tower speakers in Roswell cans. That's about all I know without pulling them out. Never heard of Phoenix Gold...

I have the mbquart headunit and its so so. Does the job. If you want to use a ipod you need to buy their cord otherwise it will not work.

Biggest bang for the buck is to up grade the Kicker DX200.4 amp for something pushing 100 per channel. That will really wake up the cabins. Want to upgrade from there, for me personally it would be the cabin speaker next as these tend to be lower medium level speakers at best.

Once you get that the the Tower speakers are the next upgrade i would look at. Possible more sub if you think your bass is lacking.

Phoenix Gold is an old school company and used to make a lot of great stuff to till the mid 90s when they were sold to a crap company that basically uses the PG name but not there builds.

    Only Butter,
The Phoenix Gold speakers that are in the Roswell pods are from the interim company as Mike mentioned and are not very good at all. That's the hard truth.
But keep in mind that the current Phoenix Gold brand is under different ownership and uses much of the same topology and overseas sourcing personnel as does Exile. Some of the 'ti' and 'xi' amplifier product is virtually identical internally just on a different board layout with a different chassis.
So it does make a difference depending on the era.
