Fishing poles?
I haven't seen anything about fishing brought up since I've been a member, but I am hoping someone can give me some advice.
Looking to buy just an entry level rod/reel combo and I have no idea about fishing stuff. Basically, I just want to sit on our dock and fish when I can't wakeboard. I just want it to work and will probably just throw on worms most of the time. Price range around $30-50. Here are 3 I found online, any help would be appreciated.

you know Ryan, I have been fishing most of my life. Baitcasters, v-spools, etc...for my money anymore if I just want to sit and sip a beer with my line in the water...just a good ole' Zebco 33. They are "fool" proof no brainer set ups. Just set the drag and open a beer.

I think with little exp... you are gonna have backlash issues. You are talking about open face or v-spool. For the money, you can get your kids the same set ups.

Yea, the dealio is they used to be made with steel gears and were bulletproof. They are plastic gears now... Shakespear makes a nice combo with UglyStick rod. Just go to Academy or Walmart.

I bought a $40 setup from sportsmans warehouse. didn't want to buy the cheapest at around $20. been a good setup, but I would prefer a closed face. I haven't changed the line in 3 years and had a lot of "loops" show up last year. I would think new line every year or a closed face would prevent that issue.
I only use it when chillin in the am/pm at the dock and probably haven't caught more than 15 fish, but it's a good activity to sip a beer and pass the time with the other half.'06 Supra Launch 20SSV-gone but never forgotten

We really need to know the average size and kind of fish you expect to catch off your dock. You can get a set-up that may work better bassed on that info.
for example, lake trout, smallmouth, perch, smaller catfish, etc I'd go with ultralight gear.
Walley, larger cats, largemouth, etc maybe go with a little heavier gear.
The 303 will probably be your best bet and help you get an idea of where to go next.
PWI as usual...
