Portlanders - I Come In Peace
I also need suggestions on the microbrew pubs and where to go for St. Patties on that Saturday for a small contingent of 50 something guys. Heading over to your neck of the woods for the NCAA games and us old fogies want to raise the roof on the place (or at least die trying).

Good because Occupy Portland is over I think.
Kells is a great St. Patties Day place. Live Irish folk music etc. That place gets crazy on St. Patties weekend. Not a great place to watch the games.
Paddys, The Boiler Room, etc... https://www.google.com/search?q=port...rlz=1I7GZAG_en There's 1 or 2 in the down town area. lol
Most of them are in walking (or crawling) distance if you need. There is also The white eagle close-by and a few other Mcminimins in the area are fun places to hang out. http://www.mcmenamins.com/ My favorite is the Kennedy school. You can order a pizza and a pitcher, sit on a couch, and watch a movie. They have a cigar bar, boiler room, hot tubs, resturaunts... its huge. Its an old school converted into a giant playland, a playland that serves beer!
There is the Windmere Brewpub http://widmerbrothers.com/brewery/#the-gasthaus-pub and a whole host of other breweries in the area. All of the brewpubs have great food. https://www.google.com/search?q=port...rlz=1I7GZAG_en These are all great places too!Last edited by newty; 03-01-2012 at 10:31 AM.

Sounds like a blast. I hope I get to visit there some time. I was just thinking that the last NCAA Tourney game day I attended featured a guy named Jason Kidd playing for Cal against LSU and Southern Illinois against Duke.
My Mom said I'm not allowed to get wet!

Newty has good suggestions.
Might consider Bridgeport brewery as well - http://www.bridgeportbrew.com/
Or Deschutes - http://www.deschutesbrewery.com/locations/portland
I have frequented the County Cork - true (little) Irish pub, my brother in law has worked there for years. Also authentic folk music & food, tons of specialty brews. Not the best for game day though and will be packed with locals on Paddy's day...So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

Thanks for the replies. If this works out, we plan to do NCAA tournaments in future years and visit different cities and it makes it more fun to get to the places the locals frequent.

With a group that size, definitely Kells or Widmer. But if in the down town area, Paddy's is a great place to stop off. Awesome bar, good food, and good service. The wife and I were in there a couple weeks ago. We had the same gal wait on us from our trip 3-4 weeks before that. She remembered our drink order and brought it right out without us saying a word. Rarely ever get that any more!
