    Default Rubber Hose

I have a 2002 Outback with a 310 Carb. Im not very mechical. SO here goes.

There is a black rubber hose that exits out the rear of the air filter then goes into the cylinder head. This hose is always coming out at the cylinder head. I installed a hose clamp to hold the hose in place. However it appears it might come out over time.

What will happen if this hose comes out.

    Thanks in advace

Sounds like the PCV valve tube. Positive crankcase ventilation. You really do need it

I spoke with my dealer, he is going to ship me out the rubber piece that fits into the cylinder head. They say if it comes out while running it may run alittle rich or oil may spray around inside the engine compartment.

My PCV hose is always a little loose, but that is one of the things that I check before I hit the water. It drives the wife and kids crazy every time I do my "preflight" check but it has saved me once before so it is justified. After de-winterizing, I had left on of the hoses off under the exhaust manifold that comes straight off the impeller discharge. Man will that fill the hull up fast!
