Is 15W-40 oil recommended? What happened to the days of straight 30W. My brother the car mechanic thought the multiblend would be a better oil but I guess that over the years with my older boats that the cool water temperatures keeps the engine cool enough not to breakdown the 30W oil. Time to wake me up.

I don't think you need to use marine 15W-40 but you should use 15W-40 with the same API ratings. There are other postings on this site regarding oil. My engine runs at 180 degrees and gets more RPM's than my car engine so I can see the need for the 15W-40
