Default Wakeboard rack to Surf board rack

I took off my racks for winter storage and thought how could I convert my wakeboard rack into a surf board rack, (by removing the centre bracket). So I first went to my local machinist and he suggested try down the street at the granite place they have a water jet cutter, $30 bucks later and a little bite of time re-installing the rubber and there ya have it. Money is a little tight at the end of boating season so this will work for a season or two.

Nice! I'd be curious what they'd charge to build a set, mimicking the ones you bring in...
So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

Nice, I plan to do this this winter as well and I am going to try and grove the slot for the rubber where the old finger was.

I'll ask to see if they're able to with the water jet.

RobertJ, how are you planning on putting in the Grove?

our local skiers dealer had some surf tines made a year ago or so. they retailed for $200, so guessing that cost was somewhere around $100 or so. they just replaced the wakeboard tines. looked factory.

Does anyone know if having a water jet cut off a tine on a powdercoated rack would distort the paint all over the area of the cut? Or would it come out looking clean like T100's?

T100, I have access to a mill and I will either use a slot cutting bit of make a cutter to match the grove.
