Default Buzz sound from near engine

When I turn the key to the accessory position, I hear a buzz sound for about 3 seconds, then a tick-tick-tick for about 3 seconds, then it quits. I dont remember it doing this before. The buzz sounds electrical but I dont smell buring, no breakers pop, everything works. Anybody else experiencing this? I have the rear seat and cover removed and it sounds like its coming from that area. Any tips would be helpful. Thanks!

DOH! Its my Perfect Pass. Didnt realize the servo would wind like that at powerup. The first sound of an electrical buzz and alarms are going off in my head. All is well in Moombaville.

The buzz you here is most likely the fuel pump. It runs for about 3 seconds when you first turn on the key to prime and build pressure in the fuel system. That is if you have fuel injection. It does not do that with the carb engine. As for the ticking sound, I don't know. If you have perfect pass it could be that. It does an auto tightening when you first turn the key on and it kinda ticks a little. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. Yes it is fuel injected. Now that I have the perfect pass installed I need to tweak/learn how to use it as well as get used to the sound it makes. New boat, new sounds. You know how it goes.

er.........ther carb motors also have an electric fuel pump......they prime when the key is turned on, or if you grind on the starter a few seconds and the engine does not start. I know because I have the carb motor. Thought you should know.

er Well you are right on the carb engine having the electric fuel pump, made by carter. But I had a 99 outback carbed, and an 01 mobius also carbed and the fuel pump never ran unless you bumped the starter. Unless you bypass the fuel pump safety swicth the fuel pump shuold not run just by turning the key to the acc. position. I had to bypass it once while tapping on it to get it to run because I let the boat sit too long and the fuel pump got a little gummed up and would'nt run. Just thought you should know.
