    Unhappy Not liking the MOJO...

Dude I totally get what yer saying bout the nose.... It really looks like wasted space...... They shoulda just made the seating area larger. I know the name of this thread is "Liking the MOJO" and I know I am gonna get blasted with hate mail about what I'm fixin to say, but here it goes.

I really, really, really wanted to like this boat. But I don't. Honestly I can't find anything on it that I like more than my LSV. I mean pickle fork fronts are great because they create more usable space, not less. Also the interior feels cheap to me. just from looking at the pictures. For instance if you notice the side of the interior to the right of the driver they went back to a flat section of fiberglass rather than the molded panel that makes that area look more streamlined and not just like they forgot to put something there. I have not been in one so I cannot speak to that. I also don't know what the price is so, maybe its price is cheaper hence the interior. Lastly the name MOJO.... I mean come on, that's the best their marketing people can come up with? I better get of my soapbox now before they send the SC snipers out to get me.

Sorry Dan and everybody else that likes it, I had to do it.... If SC bans me from the forum it's been nice knowing you guys.

HAHAHA they wont ban you for that. You made no remarks that violate anything. Im with you on the nose and i agee on the panel by the throttle. Yet they did the same thing to the LSV in 2010. They started changing things that i didnt like and as of this point i still wouldnt by another LSV for these reasons.
1 no carpet by the speakers makes it look cheap and unfinished
2 no panel next to the throttle again makes it look unfinished and cheap
3 round cut out for access to the fuel pump. Plastic cheap, they could have made a carpet covered access door like the drain plug.

Yeah I just get the feeling of "Cheap" every time I see the pics. And by cheap I just mean like lacking quality. It's amazing how a few little things can make it look like a "made in china (insert your favorite foreign country here)" knock off..... And then add the name and I feel like I'm in a goofy Austin powers movie. Like I said I really kept trying to make myself like it, but no dice so far.

    I'll pipe in too...

I do not like the design of the nose of the boat, BUT as we have been told, this is a prototype put together for the dealers meeting and we have not seen the final design.

One thing that would worry me though, I'm thinking the way the "pickles" have a square corner... that could lead to some interesting events when someone is coming in at a slow speed onto the trailer at an angle and that corner catches a guide pole.

I'll reserve my opinions for the product launch.

I think I will chime in here as well.

I like the clean lines of the interior. It is more simple and I like that. It is a big contrast to MC where they use lots of (too many) stiching patterns and such and makes the interior look too busy.

As everyone else said, I love the snap out carpet.

The design of the bow does not bother me too much, although it is screaming for a pair of air intake vents on the side recesses. And as long as that cushion right behind it will open, I think it is great. You all know we have to carry extra PFDs just in case we ever max out the capacity of our boats, well stuffing all those orange things up there out of the way would be nice. I personally do this with my Outback now, I stuff 4 or 5 PDFs up in the nose of my boat just so I'm "legal" but they rarely get used. It would also be a great place to store an anchor.

Now I am going to pick on you guys for a bit. Carpet next to the speakers? What does that gain you? An area more difficult to clean? Especially since our frosty or sugary beverages are usually parked there. I prefer the plastic panels there. The panel at the throttle? Seriously? That bothers you guys? Once again, easier to clean and one less thing to break or have to try and remove to work on something. Now I know some of the Nautiques have their ballast gauges down there and a small storage cubby for wallet and such, which is nice. Maybe some sort of a storage cubby could be made to pop in there? I am a huge "form follows function" guy and there is no need to put something there that has no purpose.

I also disagree with the "cheap" term. I like to think of it as clean. I compare it to the design of cars. A beautifully designed car has clean flowing lines and everything flows together. Think of a Ferrari. It is designed like this, and there isn't much on the car that is not functional. Most things on the car are there to make it perform better. Now you can buy a car with big hood ornaments and big chrome door handles, and then you can go to the autoparts store and buy lots of plastic chrome pieces and stick on there, but to me, that ruins the design and just clutters it up.

I look at MC, great boat, but not my style. The amount of time and money and resources spent to do all that machining work for all the switches and panels and tower and such must be insane. That is part of why they cost so much, but all that work does not make the boat function any better as a boat, and in my opinion, is just distracting and annoying.

Personally, I think Skiers Choice is going the right direction with the Mojo. Over the past few years, I have been noticing that the Moombas have been looking more and more like Supras with the plush interiors and such. This is contrary to what I think Moomba is about, or what it is about to me and why I have a Moomba. I know I will catch flak for this one, but I think Malibu hit a home run with the Axis, and when it came out, I really liked that boat. I said to myself, "Now this is what my wakeboard boat would look like if I designed and built one." I think the success of that boat line has been a wake up call to Skiers Choice to re-examine the direction they were going with the Moomba line. I also think they have responded very well and designed a great boat that truly embodied what Moomba is all about, and I congratulate them.

So, if you guys want fancy plush interiors with molded plastic covers and doo dads, and a TV in the dash, then buy a Supra, and you will love it. For me, give me the clean lines and simple interior of the new Mojo, and I will choose it over any other boat on the market right now. I am hoping that the design trends set by the Mojo will trickle down through the entire product line soon.

Congrats once again to Rick and the Skiers Choice Crew for their hard work and insight. Oh, and Rick, let's not ever put a TV in the dash of a Moomba, please?

I have to agree with NCSUmoomba....I'm not sure why people are hating a boat that they haven't seen the finished product of AND have never actually sat in. Just my $.02.

I am in the wait and see camp. Until I can sit in the final version and take it out for a test drive I don't have much to say yet. It will be interersting to see how the bow and dash turn out. Not liking the graphics on the prototype, but hey thoase can always be stripped off.... Ok with the Mojo name I guess, not thrilled but not put off either. The 2.5 has to go, really, it does... Other than that time will tell I guess.

On a side note, I too prefer to noto have carpet by the drink holders, the vinyl is much easier to clean...

My reasoning for the carpet being by the speakers is it gives a plush feel. A finished look. I understand and respect your thoughts on the clean lines and i agree i like a clean look. This is why when you look at my F350 and my boat there both simple. Theres nothing added on that adds flare or look at me. Everything is functional and i beleave less is more. But when i pay 40K plus for a truck i expect it to have Leather heated power seats, power rear sliding window, back up sensors, power sun roof, one touch 4x4 on the fly, heated power mirrors. If i didnt want this then id expect a F350 reg cab SLT with nothing in it for 20K less.

There is no option to buy the Moomba boats striped down for 20K less then a fully loaded one. Its only about 3 to 5K difference from a stripped down one and a fully loaded one yet the striped down one will still cost you 50K

I have never had to vacume the carpet by my cup holders and i think it looks a lot better with the speakers.

I look at it in comparison to a 50s Ford truck door. You open it and its all metal. No door panel at all. This to me is plain and cheap looking. Sure they painted it. I think you will agree if you went out to your car and didnt have door panels just a sheet of metal and door window handle and you paid 40K for it you would want something more.

Panel by the drivers throttle, sure its not needed but then again i like that fact that it is there on my boat and to me it finishes off the dash by wraping it around the driver.

I can say that my next boat will be at least a Supra and not so much for the computer in the dash, frankly im happy with guages, i love them lots of them. I have 13 read outs in my Truck and i look at each one constantly to see whats it doing all the time. I would goto the Supra because once i spend a certain amount of money on soemthing i expect a certain amount of that something in return.

It doesnt cost 55K to build these boats. its prolly a lot closer to 25K and to add a few things to it to make it nicer and more finished i dont think is to much to ask. When i bought my 08 < New > the sticker said 55K optioned. I paid less then 40K 1 year later and the boat had never been off the trailer. So that tells me the boat was marked way over its cost because no way a Dealer is taking that big of a loss on a New boat.

Back on the Topic of the Mojo, i do like the looks of the inteior and most of the boat i really do like. I dont care of the huge nose, and im patiently waiting to see what the finished dash and rear seat will look like.

agree the front end of that boat is hanus. I'm sure the interior will be fine when its finalized but I couldnt sit in that boat driving while having to look at the front of that boat all day....
