    Default To buy a new prop?

    Went out on my new to me 03 MobV and it has a 14"x18p prop. Hole shot doesn't seem like it was on my last boat. In addition when we fill the ballasts all the way it almost never planes out for wakeboarding. Maybe don't fill the 2x750lb sacs in the vdrive lockers full? Surfing seems ok.

    I always hear about the Acme 1235? Is this the best prop to have or is there something else I should consider?

    You would notice a big difference with a prop swap. 14x18 is not the "wakeboard prop" and gives you little to no holeshot.

    I bought the Acme 1433 but I think the Acme 1235 is recommended for Moomba.

    I had a similar size prop to start with and it felt like a dog coming out of the hole. Now running the 13.7x17.5 which is the stock prop on newer boats. Better but still lacking. Check out the Prop Test Results Post that Al (Cab13367) did - pretty awesome. Lots of good feedback on the 1847. That's the direction I'm leaning.

    So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

    I can see the differences in the 1235 vs. 1847 vs. 1433.
    1235 = 14.5x14.25 .090 cup
    1847 = 14x14.25 .150 cup
    1433 = 14x14.25 .105 cup

    I am torn between the 1847 and the 1433 as wakeprops.com specs the 1433 as a better prop than the 1847 but wouldn't the cup on the 1847 make a better hole shot prop. Info here.

    I am still leaning towards the 1847 and I have my finger on the purchase now button.

    Just ordered the Acme 1847 from JT at nettleprops.com. Fantastic service. Worked with me on the phone to explain the differences and why on my Boatmate trailer not to get the 1235 and that at my altitude I will benefit from the additional cup on the 1847 over the 1433.

    Be at my house wednesday along with my 1180# fatsac getting delivered tomorrow, gonna be a great weekend on the lake.

    I am so used to the I/O world of boats and thought the Mecruiser High Five Prop I had on my last boat was proper, that the 18pitch on my props that came with the boat was going to be fine. After some research yesterday and today. I quickly learned about inboard or dd and vdrive boats are way different in pitches and specs that IO's.

    Though it makes sense now that when getting on plane on my last boat(Sea Ray 185 with V6 merc and the SS High Five Prop) I was on plane in about 3 seconds, and now being on this boat for a couple of weekends why my hole shot felt so sluggish compared. Besides the guys I bought the boat from only used it to slalom behind and filled the GIII sacs twice since they owned it.

    So now I will have a proper WakeBoard prop for surfing and wakeboarding and the occasional family member that still wants to slalom.
