Default Acme 1433 vs. Acme 1161

Just got off the phone with my dealer about the prop issues i have been having with my 11' LSV. Talked with the service dept. and they are going to have a Acme 1433 AND a Acme 1161 for me to pick the one i want! So any one running a 1161?? I do mainly knee-boarding, wake boarding, surfing and an occasional slalom run. i am leaning towards the 1433. So how much speed am i going to lose top end and will the fuel burn be greater with the 1433?

What size prop are you running now? I had the stock OJ 455 and went to the ACME 1847 as others on the forum have done and it made a world of difference in the boats performance (better hole shot, smoother operation and very little loss of top end (-2 MPH). We do pretty much the same as you from wake surfing to slolam skiing. If you can I would check out AL's prop comparison chart here https://forum.moomba.com/showthrea...p+test+results

Compared to the stock OJ prop, you will not lose any top end with the 1161 and will lose about 2-3 mph with the 1433. You will burn more fuel with the 1433 but you will have a lot more holeshot with the 1433 over the 1161. I tested the 537 and the 1847 which are identical to the 1161 and the 1433, respectively, other than the cup which is a minor tweak.

How much ballast do you run while wakeboarding and how many people do you typically have on the boat? The 1161/537 is great with stock ballast and 4-6 people on the boat. If you run more than stock ballast and often have 6+ people on the boat, I would go with the 1433/1847. I had the 537 for a while which was a huge improvement over the stock OJ, but with about 1400#'s of ballast and 6+ adults on the boat, it struggled a bit to get up on plane. So I switched to the 1847 and have had no issues planing out with a boat ful of people and the ballast full.

Below is a link to my prop test post that Grant is referring to. I think you will find the data there that you need to decide which prop is best for you.

BTW, his dealer is ATLANTA MARINE and this is yet another example why I like to do business with them.

No, I hear there are trailer clearance issues with the LSV and the 1235 so I did not go there but there are some that have reported no trailer issues. I am sure the 1235 would have even more holeshot than the 1433/1847 but would probably lose a couple more mph on top and burn more fuel all the time.

Compared to the 537, no, I haven't noticed much difference. Still burn about 5 GPH with about a 50/50 mix of wakeboarding and surfing. But I will tally up my fuel consumption at the end of the summer and report back.

My fuel consumption actually improved a bit when I went from the stock OJ to the lower pitched 537 so I think the engine was working harder with the stock prop especially when surfing.

I have the 1161 and swapped it for the wakeboard prop......it gave me 3 more mph top end and I have not noticed a difference with 1500lbs when we wakesurf or 2100 lbs wakeboarding. I am a happy camper.....even tho I don't camp anymore
