Default Tower Upgrades - What If...

This is what happens when I get bored at work on a Friday afternoon with Photoshop at my disposal...

Upgrade the tower and add a set of HLCD speakers and a few more board racks? Hmmm....

I'd have to add a 4th amp to go stupid big... (but I already know where I'd put it)

My tower is already starting to get heavy as the whole thing folds forward. Going big may make it into a two person job!
So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

Well the voice of reason kicked in yesterday on the water. With the speakers off to the sides now there is kind of an opening through the middle walk way and I can pretty much stand in between without getting any lumps on my head.

If I went stupid big, as my shorter buddy pointed out, that walkway would disappear and I'd be crashing into those middle speakers constantly. If I flip flopped and did a top mount so there were two on top on either side and two directly underneath on the sides (think two 4-packs) then that would screw up my plans for an over-the-tower bimini. Oh well, was fun while it lasted.

Before I went that route I would seriously consider the Kicker 6500.2 (six pack) or the two pairs of the wetsounds Rev 8's. Both of those setups would blow away your current. I didn't mention Exile because everyone and their brother has them

yah, you're dead on with that NG. I was just looking at your Kicker's in the Tower / Speaker setup thread. I'd drop the Polks and go for a setup just like yours instead. Then I'll have to swap out amps yet again, but for now I think stereo upgrades and changes are done for the year.

I could still use a set of Polks for the bow if you just reload your cans.

yeah - I'm sure if i sold off the Kicker ZX450.2 I just got , sold off the Polks, and then went into the HLCD's and new amp with a 'down payment' it would be a little less painful.

Berg you might want to call Phil in on this I believe that he suggests running a pair of 450x2 bridged so you are half way there with the amps. Not trying to provoke you or anything.
