Ballast System
Hey whats going on. I've got a problem with my front ballast bag. Ive got an 04 outback. The front bag wont fill, theres no noise coming from the pump when in fill mode. But on empy there is noise. The rear fills up fine. Any Ideas?

If the light in the switch comes on, and the pump isn't running, it may be a fuse. Under the drivers dash is a fuse board just for the ballast system that has labeled fuses (uses everyday blade fuses). Check to verify that none are blown. If it is a blown fuse, be sure to replace it with one of the exact amperage. If the new fuse blows immediately after turning the fill switch on, make an appointment with your dealer. Brian Raymond

I have a 04 lsv and I had the same problem with my front ballast system except mine wouldnt empty. I checked all the fuses and wires with no luck. After that, like Brian said I took it to my dealer and they took care of it for me under warranty. They said it was a bad pump. Hope this helps.
