Ice cream
Need some help, been trying to make some homemade ice cream, following the direction that came with it and so far after letting it churn for about 2 hrs its still not thick, more like a thin milkshake. Any ideas what im doing wrong? Any tips if you make your own?

I'll teach ya next week. Gotta keep plenty of rock salt on it. By it, I mean outside the canister, not in the ice cream mixture. What flavor are you making?

I make ice cream every 4th of July. You aren't using enough salt......

it really is that simple. The rock salt is essential.
I planted two peach trees in my yard last spring just for making ice cream...
plus the dogs sometimes get to the fruit before I do
Hope you got an electric one!

how much rock salt are we talking about, Ive been putting some on but it sounds like not enough. What about water-do you add water to the ice?
Ed, luckily its got both-the hand crank and the electric. Strange in that the electric motor only spins the conister and doesnt spin the padle, but the hand cranker spins the padle and not the canister, yours do the same?
Had the best penutbutter flavored milkshake this weekend

We have ice cream
Was at Drews a couple weeks ago and we made ice cream there and he showed me how much salt to use--that was the key.

If we meet up around May next year, I'll have some peaches and blue berries to share with ya.
