    Default Vobration noise

I recently purchased a 2008 LSV and just took the boat out for the first time this weekend. When driving at 10 - 20 mph I noticed a vibration / noise coming from about 1.5 - 2 feet in front of the vdrive unit. Is this common for this type of boat. This is my first inboard boat.

The noise does not sound mechanical but more like it is coming from the hull of the boat. Not sure if it is related to how everything is mounted or what. The sound seems to be coming from under the two deck panels in the floor of the boat. I believe they are above the gas tank. Can someone provide me some insight into what the noise may be. Thanks!

    What prop do you have?
If it is OJ 14.25x14... that's probably the culprit..

    do some searches on here..

Is it a growl? fine vibrations... not real coarse? probably the prop..

Many of us have been switching to the ACME props for this reason..
Acme 1235, 1433 and 1847 ( i just put the 1847 on my 06 LSV) major reduction in vibration..

check a few things.. look at prop for any dings, etc.... eye the shaft to make sure it is not bent any..

only oddity is you mention 1.5-2' in FRONT of the V Drive unit.. hmmm

There are several threads on the OJ Prop.. Eric from OJ chimed in for a bit. says something about the prop needing to be cut down to 14x14 and recupped due to its fit on the LSV hull.. I take issue with that ... since it was the factory upgrade prop..

by your description, i am curious if you took the boat on a test drive? did it make vibration then? if no test drive, ask the prev owner if you can..

    where are you located?

The reduction of diameter, from 14.25 to 14 will help with the noise, 2 of the 3 Acme props mentioned are 14". We also offer the same 14 X 14 and 14 X 14.5 for the LSV.

I had my prop done in at prop shop in Kingston and they took 6 hours to make the prop even worse than what it was when I dropped it off.

I then sent it to Kawartha Prop Repair and they did a perfect job.

You can meet the mobile van in the parking lot at Hurst Marina to give them the prop, then you can meet them again at the same location 7 days later and they dont charge for shipping!

I would discontinue that 14.25 prop ASAP. It really does give the OJ brand a bad name.

I absolutely hate my OJ prop and can't wait to upgrade to an ACME.
