another heater install help ?
I have the conncetions at the engine.. I am having trouble mounting the core unit to the back of the hump. I drilled my hose hole toward the walk way. so i have to push the core slightly toward the hull side.. I can't seem to get the screws to bit into anything toward the hull. very close to the chase.
My thought was to build a mini "amp board" carpet it and screw it to the back of the hump then mount the core to the board?? thoughts.
because of the height restriction of the OBV 07 i have to do all the work from the steering wheel side which is very very tight..
what screws have people used and do you pre drill? i am using a flexible drill driver tip, but what a pain
i spent almost 2 hrs trying to get this mounted
evrything seemed to be flying along until this snag...A Day at the Lake...Priceless

Joe,
Did you get this done? If I remember correctly, I covered the mounting area with masking tape, then put something under the heater core of the correct height so that it put the core in the correct mounting position. I then marked the holes on the masking tape, took out the heater core, pre-drilled the holes, then put the heater core back and put the screws in. You definitely have to predrill the holes.
Hope that helps.

Al, i finally got the core mounted.by using a cutting board with some carpet to fit the same size, maybe slightly bigger and pre drilling where i could get some screws to bit them use some smaller screws to mount the core to the covered cutting board. It felt like i kept hitting the fiberglass seam near the vent chase and the screws or pre drill would not bite.
Also had to add elbows prior to the core so i would not kink the hose. pics to follow.

stock heater vent photos
anyone with a 06 to 08 OBV or pre 06 lsv have any pics of there heater vents. Just looking for postioning. last thing on my list is drilling three big 4" holes, everything is wired, plumbed and duct hose is connected to the core..
I plan on putting two in the walkway, one behind the drivers seat and a fix mount under the dash.
I have seen all the lsv pics that Al, cmsk, etc have done, but my boat is much smaller.

Thanks, Al i would never have attempted this without you and others being the pioneers that you are for mods. Also did you use zip ties to support the tubes or will the screws hold them in place?
FYI the 4" is real tight and i had to notch the top and bottom hole slighlty for the screws on the tube.A Day at the Lake...Priceless

Glad I could help. I did put a zip tie to help hold the tube up to take the pressure off the screws. And I removed the little screws on the tube before sliding it in then reinstalled one of them from underneath the dash (they are not really needed). This is after I chipped the edge of one of the holes the first time I slid one of the tubes in.
