its leaking oil out the shaft.......wish it wasn't but 99.9% sure it is, spent about an hour on the lake confirming my suspicions......found a pic, looks like its only about 8 bolts and the coupler

Im not sure yet. I will look this weekend. I have always had a "sheen" on my bilge water and could never figure out where it was coming from. Well this last time I took the boat out the little light stayed on, after I got into the throttle so I have been periodically checking the level. It was "good" when I got the boat and after 20 engine hours it is a little low. So its a leak, but a small one. Ill take a gander though when I fill up the reservoir this next time out. Cheers.

the most common place is the sensor, wrap a paper towel around it to comfirm, then a lower fitting i believe there are 4, then the lower cover plate..make sure bolts are tight, then the shaft.....i can get oil consitently from where the shaft exits......you can also place a paper towel under your v drive and see where the oil drips on it.......

davinci, i'm curious as to how much the vdrive weighs, and where exactly it unbolts from the transmission and how it melds with the transmission...ie splined shaft,is there a gasket between the vdive and tranny?.......my boat is 3 hours away right now. Any photos would be greatly appreciated
