    Default Need 360 Pointers/Tips

So my son has started trying to do 360's and is getting close but has not rode one out yet. He seems to be stuck at 270 and stops rotating at that point and falls off the back. I don't know how to do one nor have we seen any good how to videos. If you can do one, would you mind looking at the video below and letting me know what he needs to do to complete the 360 and ride it out?

    Much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Al

Get him to watch this video: http://www.inlandsurfer.com/shop/Det...113&category=5 (yes, it's for an inland surfer board but it shows a slo-mo beakdown of a 360.)

I tried this technique this past weekend and it worked for me the first time I tried it. By placing both hands behind your rear leg and on top of the wave it makes the rotation happen very quickly.

It seems to me that he is not remembering to lean towards the boat once he has come close to the end of the rotation so he is falling backwards which is causing him to stall.

I am by no means an expert but that's my 2 cents.

    Join learnwake.com.

That website is made by the owners of "The Book" and it is incredible how much information is on that website.

You can even post videos of your son trying 360's and they will be able to tell you what to change!

everyone's advice is great. The 'grab your rear leg' once start the spin, and start getting on that front foot at 270degrees (let go of your rear leg and point/look at the boat).

Sooo many different ways to do a 3. I do a drift into the flats slightly going forward, bounce a bit as my hand grabs the wave, then bend my knees slightly and lock my body with weight evenly distributed. It's actually pretty slow, and close to a stall at 200degrees. I gain speed coming out of the 270 on the downslope so catching the wave is easier. MUCH more controlled than trying to distribute your weight toes/heels/toes so fast.

I'm working on my 7s and 10s and I squat like a sumo real low, both hands in the wave, grab the rear leg and spin very fast. I'm spinning so fast it's very hard to come out just as the back of the wave 'should' catch me. haven't rode it out yet. I ride a phase 5 DD skim.

I have a big wave but prefer my buddy's boat cause the wave fans out more, I find the Enzo is the hardest cause it doesn't fan out. once you got it down, it's not the wave size, it's being able to feel the wave and get the push when you need it.

The Flyboy website has a Blog section that is great advice on a bunch of tricks for surf-style boards. I don't ride surf much so I didn't know how important board placement on the lip of the wave is. Thanks James.

Thanks for the tips. I'll check out their blog section and see what tips we can pick up.
