    Default Polk DB651 05 LSV

After milling this over in my head for a while, I decided to go with the db651 for my cabin speakers. Im going Exile for the rest of the boat. Anyways, for those of you who have installed these speakers on this boat, how did you go about doing it? They give you that adaptor ring or whatever. Did you just mount that and then mount the speakers to it? What did you do with the giant tabs that stick out, dremel them off? Thanks for your time in advance.

Yeah my DB651 dont come close to fitting those holes. The speaker is actually a little too small so the adaptor ring will be needed in some respect. I was just wondering how people did it....

If I cut the holes largers, the speakers REALLY wont fit. They almost pass through the openings as it is. Stock kenwood system.

    Ed,

The speaker holes on his boat are larger than on the newer boats.

For the application shown in the photos we make either acrylic rings or vinyl-clad rings that also conceal the permanent indentations left in the vinyl bolster by the previous oversized speakers. The rings are always done in an accent color that ties in with the piping or other interior appointments. This not only solves the fit issue but brings a custom touch too.

Not 100% true. As an FYI for others my '07 Outback had the stock Kenwoods and the Polks were direct replacements.
