seat material?

Looking to build something .. not sure what... but what kind of material is used under the seat cushions? its black.. but seems pretty rigid. but wonder what it is so I can build something from that material.

That Black material is the King Starboard. It's a really dense plastic that is used a lot in boat manufacturing. It's pretty expensive stuff though!
