Bad parking job

So I've been out of town with my son at a National TKD Tournament and the weather here in WI has been stinking hot. My wife heads out with her sister and my other 2 kids for a day on the boat. No big deal drop the lift and away she goes.

Well when she was putting the boat back on the lift the wind kind of pushed it forward a little too far. When I get to the lake on sunday afternoon I can see the prop is sitting on the rear cross bar. I try not to freak out and head up to the house with by suitcase and get changed and head back down to the lake. I jump in and have a look.

At first I had hoped that the prop just looked like it was on the bar, but no such luck. In fact the rear of the boat was off of the bunks and the whole rear of my boat is sitting on two blades of my prop!

I check to see if there is any visible damage or cracks. Nothing.

Lower my boat into the water and fire her up for a little test ride. No vibrations, no nothing.

Phew! that's all I can say.

Stainless prop, and no pics. The sooner I got it off that bar the better.

I would have been concerned about the strut pushing through the hull or the shaft bending. We are fortunate in that the rear cradle on our lift has a cutout for the shaft and prop... But I am always leary when anyone but me puts the boat on the lift = or takes it out. Some people think these are cars and will try to drive the boat off the lift. I have the prop repari bills to prove it ...

AMen to that. I had the same concern, specifically the strut pushing through the hull. Fortunately the shaft length past the strut is short and the prop covers most of it.

I would fab up a bow stop on the lift like that are on some boat trailers. Some of the trailers have 2 2x4's covered with carpet and they hit the bow rub rail between the bow light.

We were talking about that exact idea. Mine will be much more simpistic. Just a tennis ball hanging on a string from the canopy frame. When the ball hits the windshield your there!

I bet that is the only time I would ever gingerly climb onto a boat. The ball would still blow around with wind... know some people who have tried it. It works good when the wind isn't blowing hard tho.

sled, close one whew...

narrow the bunks on the bow side and that will prevent someone from going to far forward without gunning it...
