Space for under floor ballast?
Does anyone know if there is much room under the floor to plumb in more ballast? I was thinking about a sac on either side of the engine in my DD but under the floor.
I have an '03 Mobius. Thanks for any input!

I have thought about it, but I don't think it is worth the effort. First off, the floor of my boat (2001 Outback) is bonded to the hull, so getting under there would be next to impossible. Then when you get under there, it is full of the expanding spray foam flotation. I discovered this when putting my batteries under the floor. That stuff is a total pain to dig out of there. I think the concept is great and Calabria and MB take advantage of that space, but to do it right, the boat would have to be built with that in mind from day one.

The coast guard requires boats of a certian length and under (I think 24', but I'm not sure), must not sink if they are cut in half. So, any voids in the hull are filled with flotation to meet this requirement.
