Basic Stereo Install/Steering Rack

Putting in a stereo in my 02 outback. My boat didn't come with a stereo but noticed the dash had a cut out already behind the dash cover and used that spot. Put the cover/mount in and was thinking how smooth it was going.... Anyhow go to slide the stereo in and it hits the steering rack.

Can you move the rack? Any other ideas?

Space out the protective radio cover and the source unit with a dense polymer (ABS or KingStarboard) adapter of the appropriate depth.
