Well if it's good enough for Sled... I'm going to pick up some other radiator hose though. The stock stuff wont get as far onto the barb fitting as I'd like. Other than that, I think this will work great.

Darn you Razz! I've been putting off buying this strainer for the last 3 years but finally ordered one about two weeks ago at the same time that I ordered the heater. Then a few days letter, you tell us about your find. I paid $52 for mine and it didn't even come with the chrome rings!
I bought 90 degree elbows for mine though (I see you went with straight thru fittings) and am going to install it like the factory does, per the pic below that Jesse posted in another thread. I think it will make it easier to access the bowl this way.

Thanks for posting that pic, Cab. It's got me wondering if mounting it that way has anything to do with it being above the draft level. If the bowl were to crack, or if you simply wanted to clean it out while on the water, I wonder if it's high enough to keep you from taking on water. My location I'm not so sure...

Ahhh so the factory puts a brass/bronze 90 degree fitting at the Vdrive inlet, got it.
