Boat Speakers both in boat & tower
As you can see, I am getting my boat ready for the new season and fixing all of the little stuff wrong. Bad news is, sounds like my front starboard in boat speaker is blown. I cannot seem to find another Rockford Fosgate HPC1206 anywhere, I know it's an old model. So I am thinking of replacing my 4 in-boat speakers. What do you guys recommend? I know everyone loves the Wet Sounds, but I cannot justify that amount of money right now, still planning a wedding! Any thoughts or inputs on the Polk db650's?
Next speaker issue is with my tower speakers, I have some old school Infinity's on there now, I lost a grill for the smaller speaker and it took a beating, woofer is torn. Can't seem to find a matching pair there either. I believe the one that is torn is a 5" speaker, and I do don't think a 5.25" speaker will work. Any suggestions on 5" speakers? Seems like they are pretty hard to find.
Also, I am keeping my current amps so the in boat speakers are powered by a 200 watt and the tower speakers are also powered by a separate 200 watt. Hope this info helps in determining speakers.
All input is much appreciated! THANKS!We only fear what we don't understand...

The Polk DB651s dollar for dollar are one of the best you can get. There is other brands that are comparable but for what these Polks can do you just cant go wrong with them. I have them in my boat as several others do, Brian at Exile will even tell you how good he thinks they are and sound for the amount they cost.
They have a solid mid range and very nice smooth tweeter sound and are very full sounding.
I run mine on a 200 watt 4channel amp and they sound amazing.
As for the 5inch speakers your not going to have much luck. The infinity tower speaker set up, if thats the 2 speaker per pod model, is specific to those speakers. You need to get one of there direct replacements, hard to find. Or look at getting a whole nother speaker set up for the tower.Malo <--- Means--Evil or Mean One. This explains a lot.

Yeah, I think the DB651's are my best bet.
As for the tower speakers, they are the Infinity 2 pod, so 4 speakers (front & back of cans) model.
Anyone know where I can get a direct replacement at?We only fear what we don't understand...

Might look around in here see if they have what you need.
What exact style pods you have? 6000M?

I'll look around on that site and see what I can find.
I do not have the 6000m, they are way older than those, lol. Not sure the model number but here is a pic of them. Hope that helps. We only fear what we don't understand...

Those look like slim mount 5.25", if that size would fit I'd get the Polk DB521's, I need to rip apart the speakers tonight and see if I can get a model number to cross reference sizes on. Thanks.

Found them, they aren't even 5" speakers, they are 4" speakers. Eclipse SE8242 to be exact, should have just pulled it apart sooner. Oh well, any other inputs on the DB651's?
Should I go back to another Eclipse SE4000 4" speaker or spend the extra $14 bucks/pair and get the Polk DB401's??Last edited by dereklschmidt; 03-22-2010 at 02:57 PM.
