    Default Docks and boat lifts

I can't believe I am asking this but....
does anyone know what is involved in getting a permit for 1. a dock and 2. a boat lift in Florida and Georgia? Cost of permits, etc. Have the tree huggers made it really expensive and difficult?
    Any info would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

It depends on the waterway for the dock and the lift. It also depends on the type of lift that you are wanting.

My lake requires a permit to install a dock. It already had one when we bought the house. Any contractor that will install your dock will pull the required permits.

I have an aluminum boat lift that is "free standing". I can remove it with a few friends (this is just a theory right now as it has not been moved in 6 years). There was no permit required for that lift.

ZEGM recently built a new dock/lift, he should know about the permits for sure.

BTW, we have an offer in on a "short sale" lake house in N. Tampa and will be moving down there in a few years.

We bought a cabin on Lake Nottely(N. GA MTNS) last year. It's a TVA lake so we had to file paperwork (online) that included drawings and a survey. It took about 30 days for approval. No fixed docks, only floating. We're having a 5000lb boat lift install for $5500.00. I'm hoping that's a good price.

Max: Congrats on your pending purchase.

Wolfe: Yes, I have read all your posts and am grateful for your offers. However, it's a little far to be going there every weekend.

CB: That is good to hear.

Kane: Enquiry minds want to know.

If I'm hearing this right, it seems the LSV doesn't have to fit in the garage afterall.
