Ill take the bags out and let them dry on the platform when in storage, there is still usually a little water left in the bag so it lays flat and keeps the carpet wet... I also keep the rear lockers...

I had my pad looked at before my 1 yr service was up, and it appears they just cut the pad to make it not stick out any more... So how much do these new pads cost... Is there a better alternative...

When I had to lower my tower a few times, I took a foam koozie (thick kind, not the flimsy ones) for cans, and slipped it over the end, worked well if I'm thinking the same thing you are...
